我就不從文法的層面來說了，就從歷史學的層面來說～
以我自己唸歷史的經驗，碰到這種句子，我不會將allow翻成「賦予」
歷史畢竟是「後見之明」，
鐵路對人類生活的改變與貢獻，並不是任一位歷史學者能「賦予」的
歷史學者頂多做到「認同」、「認為」，
也就是allow被當成是admit的用法

說真的我會搞不懂寫這句話的人想講什麼，我甚至可能會認為他想諷刺這件事
就OALD跟CALD給的解釋，我完全無法理解have accorded用在這句中
如同上面寫的，沒有一個歷史學者敢「賦予」、「給予」某事某意義
歷史學只是「發現」，歷史學可不是發明阿～～～

你知道那時候的英文沒那麼平民～～～
或許是否要找找accord跟allow在更早期的用法？
