I don't think so deep like you. But what I know is we have
sound and well-constructed methodologies in search of
knowledge or truth (this is said by S. Ramanujan.)
In Atomism, the Analysis Method and Synthesis were induced.
In Analysis, they attempted to understand the essences or basic
elements which complete things or people. And using the elements
to finish the jigsaw puzzle of things or people is Synthesis.
Both of them gave birth to The Calculus and are the kernel of
Scientific Methodology.
Why did I mention those stuffs? Actually, Mathematics equips me
with solid analytical methods and logics. But it doesn't conflict
with my major because our purposes are finding out the truth of
the world. (this TRUTH is not so high as yours.) In my major, we
attempt to optimize the system, which is the truth of production.
In math, everything is for the truth.
What makes it differnet is the SALARY.
