Quite an overkill for home use, backups is enough for me.
My LSI 21320R is just a SCSI HBA, and not even
especially expensive. Quite a bit cheaper than an
Adaptec 320 HBA.
The sophisticated controller you are refering to is
probably LSI's MegaRAID. Mine doesn't have battery
backupped RAM as the MegaRAID's have.

Well, I have Solaris on the first drive, and now DFly
on the second drive so the speed is enough for me.
I'm too old for the wildest stuff, my last motorcycle was
but a humble 600cc Yamaha Thundercat.
Puny 105 hp, 210 kg heavy and maxed out at
pathetic 235 km/h. <BIG GRIN>

So I opened the case, moved the cable to channel B
and booted happily. All permutations tested.
Time to update the HW list on the wiki.

Thanks, but no thanks, I'm strait ;-)
