Re: Installer login broken (ncurse?)
:Just did some physical testing.
:
:1. Physically removed the SCSI controller from the slot.
:
:2. Installed a SATA disk on the onboard Sil 3114 controller.
:
:3. Booted the DFly CD
:
:I got some
: ad4: Timeout waiting for interrupt
:and some messages about trying PIO mode until the kernel
:finally decided to commit suicide (panic).
:
:Something might be fishy with my motherboard, because
:some people have reported (on the Solaris x86 maillist)
:that Solaris runs with both SCSI and SATA together
:on this motherboard. Might just be some BIOS settings.
:
:I will download and test FreeBSD right away.
:Would be cool if this worked.
:
:Cheers --- J^2
I found an interesting URL put together by it looks like the FreeBSD
guys while researching this:
http://withagen.dyndns.org/FreeBSD/notes/amd64-hardware.html
Sometime this year I am going to be buying some dual-opteron
systems to complement my (old) dual-P3 DELL-2550's for SMP, NUMA,
network, and large-memory testing purposes.
At the moment I'm looking at the Rioworks HDAMA MB. It seems to
be the best match for the type of work I want to test, including
NUMA style memory up to 16GB and two(!) GiGE ports on the motherboard.
