:Slow corruption gets propagated to the mirror disk, doesn't it?
Basically just drive failures, which are the most common cause of
machine failure and the most time consuming to recover from. A RAID
system does not protect against corruption, but a journaling system
(like the one I am building) can have the ability to check the journal
against the live filesystem to detect corruption.
Mirrors can also improve read performance. It's like having a second
set of disk heads.
