2.2 The DNA Polymerase Reaction
(……)
DNA pols incorporate a base by the following five-step-mechanism: first,
a correct hydrogen bonding between the incoming dNTP and the tempting
base is established (A to T and G to C and vice versa); second, water is
excluded from the active site; third, the geometric selection in the
active site takes place; fourth, the dNTP binding affinity leads to an
induced conformational change in the active site and fifth, the
phosphodiester bonds is formed between the last base of the primer and
the new nucleotide by the release of pyrophosphate.

polymerase reactions has been reported (Chen et al., 2013b). Unfortunately,
this study is currently called into question, and the merits of this
particular method must be reevaluated (Chen et al., 2013b).
