其實Ducati一直不能解決問題的是他們的引擎扭力帶過窄也過高,
日本車廠的引擎普遍可以在3800轉到12800轉就輸出最大扭力,
Ducati的扭力帶卻在4400轉到13000轉,所以大家看Ducati的極速非常高,但實際意義不大。
過往Stoner利用過Apex點就加速同時前後輪一起滑動來修正出彎路線,
所以在很多彎道他出彎修正角度時轉速比Hayden高出500轉以上,
自然他在出彎時會更快拉到理想的扭力輸出。
Hayden或Rossi都是傳統型的騎乘方式,一旦出彎扭力不夠速度就拉不起來。
而且因為引擎特性不同,Ducati改不了,只好一直搾取馬力,
間接造成引擎壽命減少,往往賽季末都要想辦法降低馬力以保留剩餘不多的引擎。
由於引擎是屬於高轉高馬力的特性,一旦達到六七千轉扭力輸出很恐怖,
所以會造成輪胎打滑,高速彎的行駛穩定性很差,間接讓Rossi想廢掉碳纖車架,
改用偏軟具有更多變形量的鋁鑄車架,可是引擎的問題還是沒解決。
Ducati也想透過電子點火系統去調配彎角中過大的馬力,
但ducati 不是兩輪霸主本田或是永遠的老二山葉,沒有那麼多年的實驗室經驗,
加上車廠也不是太有錢,吸引不到更豐富經驗的電子技師(都被本田山葉綁住了)。
