[回報] 10/22 紐約機考
總分總算破了1300
我的媽呀...這個黑色夢魘終於結束了...

我是在紐約曼哈頓的1 PENN PLAZA大樓的17樓考,
大概是在8th大道和33rd街, 要先跟一樓的服務台報備, 才能拿到通行卡片搭電梯,
環境很好, 工作人員很友善, 窗明几淨, 人不多,
很安靜...耳塞或耳機幾乎不需要, 電腦設備都很完善.
@ 考試過程
順序是I-A-Q-V-Q(加考), 進入加考部份前會先告知.
我碰到的issue是高頻題:
"In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university
level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the
academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."
只有練習寫過三篇issue, 都挑最高頻的,
請美國朋友幫我抓毛病, 改掉東方的寫作思維. 這次很好運.
由於有練過, 寫起來游刃有餘, 以往大概250~300字/45分鐘, 這次寫了大概400字左右.
Argument抽中這題:
"In order to save a considerable amount of money, Rockingham's century-old
town hall should be torn down and replaced by the larger and more
energy-efficient building that some citizens have proposed. The old town hall
is too small to comfortably accommodate the number of people who are employed
by the town. In addition, it is very costly to heat the old hall in winter
and cool it in summer. The new, larger building would be more energy
efficient, costing less per square foot to heat and cool than the old hall.
Furthermore, it would be possible to rent out some of the space in the new
building, thereby generating income for the town of Rockingham."
Argument沒什麼可說了, 這篇不難, 而且很多人應該都比我強.
Q的部份寫得超級膽顫心驚, 兩年前考過一次機考,
這次寫得很不順, 前面很卡, 感覺題目變難, 文字敘述變很多.
最後五分鐘還剩6題, 抖得要命.
後半段題目變得比較容易, 想說這次完蛋了, 結果出來比上一次高,
ETS, 我真搞不懂你啊.
Q的部份大概有15%~20%從印度雞精出來,
事先有稍加練過印度雞精的話, 可以節省一些時間.
我覺得算術部份不難, 圖表題也不難(不要被文字煙霧彈唬到, 一點也不難),
排組或機率也出得不難, 不過這次寫到的幾何題很機車, 拐個彎才能解,
不過如果我事先練過模擬考, 時間掌握應該會更好.
貢獻幾題:
1. 450個房間(從101號-550號),
其中會議室的門牌規定是百位數為1,2,3以及個位數4,5,6
求這450間中有幾間是會議室.
2. [1, 2, 4, 6, 8] 和 [1, 2, 3, 4, 8] 兩個數列 (實際數字忘了)
各抓出一個數相乘, 求有幾種結果.
3. 給一個X-Y座標圖, 兩點聯成一條直線a, 還有一條直線b介於這兩點之間,
問直線b斜率和某個數比大小. (那個數就是a的斜率)
4. 圖表題, 列出三個城市的自來水的一堆成份,
求哪個成份變動的range比較大.
終於到了V的部份, 我的感覺是不難, 類反大概有60~70%出自10月雞精,
填空有兩三題很直觀, 閱讀大概放掉2題.
記得一篇短閱是講某女性作家評論另一位作家,
該作家的作品和背景都和美國黑人有關.
長閱蠻想讀完的, 講化學和物理的關係, 某化學家主張化學不應太狹隘,
必須從大方向和物理的角度來看...
我記得的類反有:

@後記
看到韓國和對岸的雞精有時很羨慕, 他們真的頗團結,
小弟記性不好, 但盡量利用換單元空檔記一些東西,
希望對大家有微薄的幫助!
