Oftentimes, language exchange is about casual conversation rather than serious
English classes. I'm not meaning it can't be serious, but naturally we don't
tend to take language exchange for a formal occasion in which one gotta speak/
write perfect English.
If formal way of talking/writing in English is what you want, I suggest you to
make it clear to your exchange partner that "the English you prefer learning
from him/her is perfect in grammar, is something you can use in formal
circumstances." I believed that she/he will make adjustments after knowing what
exactly your needs are.
