Re: [News] Taiwan media sucks
Money talks.
Money talks louder in Taipei.
Nothing but money is the only reason why those journalists eagerly seek, dig
and even make up sanguine, unethical, pornographic, private and negative
"news." I have been wondering if those journalists are really not aware of what
kind of news as well as what kind of method of getting news is repellent and
disgusting, or they are just, against thier own will, obliged to carry out
the orders from thier mercenary bosses in order to save thier jobs or get
promoted,so that they can support their families and have luxuriant retirement
lives. Are we being selfish if we ask them to ignore and to refuse to report
the welcoming and lucrative news, regardless of how inappropriate and filthy
the news will be? Some say that they report exaggerated facts or false truth
because they have lots of audience who are interested in reading them.
Does it mean that in this case, they, as a journalist, can put down thier
social responsibilites and blame such a sick and morbid social phenomenon on
the reader? On the other hand, of course, journalists, just like you and me,
struggle to survive this competitive society. No sensational news means less
reading mass; no graphic sex and violence depiction means less attention from
the public. Both results will only lead to the decrease of profits, which the
boss will not allow at any cost. Thus comes a malign competition and
vicious circle from which each of us is unable to separate. It will be
fruitless either to demand the reporters to be more ethical or to restrain
the receivers from reading these stimulating and addictive news, won't it?
I don't know. I can't see any solution so far as the money-prone ambiance
in Taiwan keeps getting stronger and rooted in the following generations!!
