Taiwan is a very samll island which is only one fifth of the area of Washington
state. Nevertheless, habitating here are at least ten aboriginines with their
own languages such as Cou, Amis, Atayal, and so on. These languages are
disappearing while our goveronment aren't doing a good job preserving it.
Aboriginal languages verification examinations are held, but don't really serve
its purpose. For example, a classmate of my sister who is Amis, only took one
week preparing the exam for bonus points for her College Entrance Examination,
She passed it, and forgot them all since then. Therefore, I'm really worried
about the future of Taiwanese aboriginal languages and cultures.
