Look up / look in 的差異 - 第二篇
Look up 是個特別的phrasal verb，代表搜尋
Look in 則只是"看"而已
在中文，很多時候我們叫人"看看"某東西，其實是叫人搜尋某物
如：看看電話簿裡有沒有John的電話
所以在語言上look up 跟look in會有所混淆
我們換個例子較清楚：
Please look in the kitchen for the fish.
請去廚房裡面找那條魚。
如果改成please look up the kitchen for the fish
聽者的反應會是 (．＿．?)
就算改成please look up the fish in the kitchen
聽者的反應會是 (⊙o⊙)
因為 to look up [sbd.] = 拜訪 [某人]
所以這句話是叫聽者進廚房拜訪那條魚 XD
所以，雖然look up 與 look in 很多時候都相通
但其實兩個還是不一樣的~
