一些地方應該做點修改
第六段:
To see where a particle is, one has to shine light on it.
要看到一個粒子在哪裡,某人必須[在這粒子上]照光。
One has to use at least one quantum.
這人必須至少使用一個量子單位(的光)
This will disturb the particle, and change its speed in a way that can't be
predicted.
這將擾動粒子，並改變其速度，使其無法預測。 (這句其實是習慣問題...)

通用的翻譯是隱變數
第十段:
Dirac was my predecessor but one, as the Lucasian Professor in Cambridge.
: 狄拉克是除了我[筆者霍金]以外的唯一的前任劍橋盧卡斯教授。
我不知道那個but one是什麼意思,但是這個翻譯肯定不對
因為牛頓的老闆就是這個講座的第一任教授,而牛頓則是第二位!

第十二段:
However, even this degree of certainty, seems to be threatened by more
recent developments.

The problem arises because gravity can warp space-time so much, that there
can be regions that we don't observe.
這個問題的浮現，是因為重力彎曲時空太多使得我們沒有觀測到某些(時空)區域
第十三段:
Both Mitchell and Laplace thought of light as consisting of particles, rather
like cannon balls, that could be slowed down by gravity, and made to fall
back on the star.
米切爾和拉普拉斯認為光是由粒子組成，就像砲彈，可以被引力減緩，並掉落回此星體。
(rather 和 like, similar等字連用時是"有點像"的意思，這錯得太嚴重了)
(可是後面的rather similar翻譯正確阿囧)
第十四段:
In order to understand this, considered a sheet of rubber, with a weight

為了了解這個觀念，考慮上面放有代表星體的重物的一片橡膠。
(這句是不是漏改阿，活像翻譯機翻出來的)
In 1919, a British expedition to West Africa, looked at light from distant
stars, that passed near the Sun during an eclipse.
1919年，一個英國探險隊遠赴西非，觀測在日蝕時通過太陽附近的來自遙遠的恆星的光
(日蝕才看的到太陽附近的星光)
They found that the images of the stars were shifted slightly from their
normal positions.
他們發現星體的影像偏移了其正常位置。
(shift未必是"向上"，只是表示移動)
第十六段:
while to the British, there was the added resonance of the Black Hole of
Calcutta.
而英國人而言，還有額外對＂加爾各答的黑洞＂的共鳴
Black Hole of Calcutta 是個監獄:
