: 倒是有一次,我剛跟朋友吵完架,在路上遇到一位比較熟的同學,他問How are you? : 我就反問他Do you really wanna know? or you just asking? Yes, I cannot agree more. When I am extremely upset, I am tired of this skin deep good manner. I often have to remind of myself that Americans really do not care about me......Unless I share some common interests with them. Americans simply want to keep the conversation going on. If two Americans are together and there is no conversation, they feel uneasy. They must say something to feel natural, to feel normal. Good manners is a way for Americans to show they somehow respect you and make the effort to show their respect by saying how are you. It does not matter whether the good manner carries out a meaningful conversation later on or not. It just means Americans did what they think they should do. I mean, it does not mean they are your good friends when they ask how are you. They can smile at you and say I am sorry that I cannot help you. Americans just love good manners. It is a way to protect themselves. So that they can detect anything wrong before it gets worse. So that they feel good because they get along with other strangers. These are my observation. Might be wrong but so far so true. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. ※ 編輯: janetsky 來自: 70.152.245.100 (01/26 11:24)
