※ 引述《mason (牲牲不息)》之銘言: : : 1. Should a city try to preserve its old, historic buildings or destroy : : them and replace them with modern buildings? Use specific reasons and : : examples to support your opinion. : I think a city should try to preserve these old, histotic buildings : rather than destroy them, even should preserve without any repair or : modification. These old renmants represent a history and culture of a : place. It can tell local citizens, their child and everyone come to this : town what the special event happended on this city or the developmental : history of this place, which is help to let them understand the culture : of this town better and impressed. I think a city should try to preserve its old, historic buildings rather than destroy them. Silently yet powerfully, old, historic buildings remind people of many forgettable stories. They gather the local citizens and strenghten their belonging, speak to the children and let them know the history, and attract visitors and arouse their awe and reverence. Keeping a city's old, historic buildings is definetly a good way to keep its history and culture. : For example, old KaoHsiung railway station which is a important spot of : history. KaoHsiung old railway station was been built on 1941, the end : of japanese goverance era. The age of building is 68 years. This building : has undergone and witness many important historical event, ex. February 28 Incident, : the 2nd world war, Formosa Boulevard Incident and so on. To preserve this : important spot, the goverment make a 85 meters shift without any : destroyed. The Old Kaohsiung Train Station is a good example. Built in 1941 (toward the end of the Japanese colonial period), the 68-year-old Kaohsiung Train Station is an importnat historic spot which witnesses the ups and downs of the port city. It went through the Second World War, the 228 Incident, the Formosa Boulevard Incident, and so on. In order to preserve this valuable treasure and build a new train station at the same time, the city government decided to make a 85-meter-shift to the old one instead of destorying it. Now the city could have a new train station to help solve its traffic problem and keep the old one to reserve the memories of people in Kaohsiung. : With the views which mentioned above, we can see the point why a : historic old building should be preserved. Having both old, historic and new, modern buildings at the same time is not impossible at all. The Taipei North Gate is kept to remember the development of the Taipei City. The old New York City Fire Department is kept to remind people of the hard work of firemen. Without these old buildings, history would be forgetten easily. Therefore, it is important for a city to find a balance between the old and new -- otherwise it would just become a shiny but shallow place. : ... don't know how to make a ending..... ~~ an ^_^ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.115.128.21
