Consider the Lagrangian of a free moving particle, in an ineratial frame
of reference
Since the Lagrangian is independent of r, we have dL/dr=0, and so Lagrange's
equation is

whence δL/δv = constant. (P=constant)
Since δL/δv is a function of v , it fallows that v=constant
Thus we conclude that, in an ineratial frame, any free motion
takes place with a velocity which is constant in both magnitude and direction.
This is the law of inertia
(註:此處的V在書中均以粗體書寫,應該是向量的意思

就我的理解"慣性" 是指物體有著維持原本運動狀態的傾向 P=Const.
但是其他人可能對慣性的理解是"改變"物體的運動狀態的容易度 "mass"
(修改一下用字)
我的理解是看到Landau的敘述之後做出來的推論

個人認為還是有理由把他單獨拿出來稱作"慣性定律"的
