先看這裡有解析: http://www.grommersoft.com/content/view/596/43 : 其實就是下禮拜要考的英美詩選通識　冏 : 這首詩我看了很多分析還是不太懂 : 跑來此地求援(英文高手多多)，順便看看誰在線上XD謝謝 : １ : 題目Pathedy of Manners的意涵？我在筆記上寫”情境悲劇” : 不太懂”情境的意思”，還有Manners的意思是？這問題牽涉到整首詩的解釋，還有詩歌的語調(tone) 先看文學中常用的名詞 "comedy of manners"解釋 it deals whith... men and women living in a sophisticated upper-class society, and relies for comic effect in large part on the wit and sparkle of the dialogue..... a witty conversational give-and-take which constitute a kind of verbal fencing match. it attacks on the social standard and decorum by wit. 簡言之，就是在戲劇中上層階級的人表現出機鋒，以幽默的手法，抨擊社會的價值觀、道德觀。最常見的例子是王爾德的《不可兒戲》 (The Importance of Being Earnest) 詩人把comedy替換成Pathedy，表示這首詩沿襲之前"comedy of manners" 的態度(manners)，但又做了些許的改變。首先內不在是comedy，而是pathetic，激起了讀者的憐憫心內容也不是充滿機鋒，而是詩人站在旁觀的角度，對主角批判，如她如何的學習上流社會的品味，如何甩開落魄的侯爵，如何建立起理想的家庭但最後她卻空無一物，也不敢去想像當初不隨主流會是甚麼樣子。詩人認為這種情況是該憐憫的。但站在詩人的立場，詩人的語調也顯示出詩人自己對她的批判詩人也是用comedy of manners的方式。 : ２ : 第二節的第四句 : And when she might have thought, conversed instead. : 不太懂她為啥突然加入這段作者敘述這句話我覺得應該是: She scorned Wagner, praised the Degas dancing girls, And conversed instead, when she might have thought. 是三個動詞接連過來的。不過when she might have thought 這句話我不確定有請高手來解答吧 : ３ : 第五節的第三句 : Toying with plots to kill time and re-wed : Illusions of lost opportunity. : 那個”plot”和"re-wed"的意思是？ plots 即是後面的 kill time and re-wed 想著如何殺時間，怎樣才能再婚 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 123.194.195.11
