波音T-X的重點是單引擎但是雙垂尾
單引擎的原因是低成本,雖然麥克唐納在F-4幽靈機灌輸全球海軍一個雙引擎比較安全的
概念:一顆引擎故障還有一顆可以降落。但反過來說,雙引擎飛機也是一顆引擎故障就不
能起飛,長期維修成本還是比較高。
雙垂尾則是加強高攻角的機動性,以因應USAF對空戰性能的要求(影片中可以看到)。雙
垂尾的目的是讓垂尾突出在機身"陰影"之外,因為高攻角時候機身陰影處會導致邊界層剝
離而產生亂流,單垂尾只能往上方發展來突出於亂流之外,但長太高就會在平時產生阻力
與重量。雙垂尾則是朝兩側突出,所以高度不用太高就有高攻角穩定的效果。另外主翼前
緣有延伸面,中間有犬齒,都是在高攻角產生渦流以減緩邊界層剝離對主翼的影響。總的
來說這次T-X案就是讓美國航空界複習一下第四代戰機的設計。

以上,不過這台台灣應該買不到...美國的高教機採購看來變數還是很大
當初以為看到F-18影子,看來波音是賭未來戰鬥機都會出現雙垂尾
