With the presence of Daniela Hantuchova another top 20 player has been added
to the list of contenders of the Proximus Diamond Games.
Daniela Hantuchova has received the last wild card. The Slovakian player has
been up anddown in the past couple of years, but has made her way back into
the world's top 20 ranking. At the Australian Open, it Maria Sharapova to
beat her in the fourth round.
Kim Clijsters still hasn't cancelled officially, but chances are really small
she will be fit in time. Then her place would be taken by Mary Pierce or a.o.
Elena Dementieva.
Like that, there will be five top 10 players: Australian Open title holder
and defending champion Amelie Mauresmo (2), Nadia Petrova (7), Patty Schnyder
(8), Venus Williams (10) and subsequentle Kim Clijsters (1) or possibly Mary
Pierce (5) or Elena Dementieva (9).
