美國一些教會中學也喜歡玩這套，讓學生簽守貞卡，
但後來的調查發現，絕大部分學生若有機會破處，
大多沒有幾許遲疑。那些聲稱自己還是處子的，
要不是被同學說是說謊呢，就是根本沒有人想跟他/她親熱。
莎士比亞的戲劇 All's Well That Ends Well 有一段對話說得妙，
很能表現出現在大多老美青少年的心情：
'Tis a commodity will lose the gloss with
lying; the longer kept, the less worth: off with 't
while 'tis vendible; answer the time of request.
Virginity, like an old courtier, wears her cap out
of fashion: richly suited, but unsuitable: just

朱生豪的翻譯：
貞操是一注擱置過久了會失去光彩的商品；越是保存得長久，
越是不值錢。趁著有銷路的時候，還是早點把它脫手了的好；
時機不可失去。貞操像一個年老的廷臣，雖然衣冠富麗，
那一副不合時宜的裝束卻會使人瞧著發笑，就像別針和牙籤似的，
現在早不時興了。做在餅餌裏和在粥裏的紅棗，是悅目而可口的，
你頰上的紅棗，卻會轉瞬失去鮮潤；你那陳年封固的貞操，
也就像一顆乾癟的梨兒一樣，樣子又難看，入口又無味，
雖然它從前也是很甘美的，現在卻已經乾癟了。
