這似乎是小小的線索...
請問你在Ubuntu下查dictionary這個字時，出現的翻譯是「字典」？
還是「字典、詞典、辭典、辭書」一整串？
請見google translate網頁版圖例：

dictionary有「English to Chinese (Traditional) translation」和「dictionary」欄

incompetence只有「English to Chinese (Traditional) translation」欄
所以Ubuntu下使用的字庫是EtoC translation
而其他系統下使用的字庫是dictionary
也許這跟gnome設定有關？（但我沒用gnome 不知道它是幹麼的）
又或許建議google translate網頁版增修字義會有效
我會試試後者方法
