我手上沒有楊鵬難句的原書，下面的內容是從網路上找到的。

In the forests of New Brunswick, for example, various
pesticides have been sprayed in the past 25 years in
efforts to control the spruce budworm, an economically

indigenous species, the red-osier dogwood, was
significantly reduced in the sprayed areas as compared to
that of plants in control plots where Matacil was not
sprayed. This species is highly dependent on the insect-
pollinators most vulnerable to Matacil. The creeping dogwood,
a species similar to the red-osier dogwood, but which is
pollinated by large bees, such as bumblebees, showed no
significant decline in fecundity. Since large bees are not
affected by the spraying of Matacil, these results add weight
to the argument that spraying where the pollinators are
sensitive to the pesticide used decreases plant fecundity.

二、閱讀文章時的注意事項 (我看到這個問題時的反應)

我看了一遍，就想不通為什麼後半主要子句的主詞是 these results
？明明 Since 就只講到 large bees 不受 Matacil 的影響，那麼後
半句主詞應該是 the result 或 this result。為什麼會原文會寫
these results？我想到的是，這句話前面還有其他的 results 所以
才會變成 these。因此打開 google 一查，果然找到前面的文字，因
此就解決了gxdrsl所提的問題。
結論：

指示形容詞 (this, that, these, those)、定冠詞 (the)、名詞的單
複數，都有可能會成為我們理解或解題的關鍵。
最後，切記，魔鬼就在細節裡。
