McCarthy has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a stress reaction in his
shoulder, Joe Stiglich of the Contra Costa Times reports.
Recommendation: This is the first mention of any injury for McCarthy, who has
actually be sidelined by this injury the past. It's unclear just how long
he'll be out with this latest bout, but the injuries to McCarthy, Tyson Ross
(also placed on the DL Friday) and Bobby Cramer at Triple-A leave the A's
woefully in the back of their rotation after losing Dallas Braden to a
shoulder injury earlier this season.
