a small change made to a machine, system, or calculation
Once we make the adjustments for inflation, the fall in interest rates is
quite small.
a slight adjustment to the mechanism
It just needs a few minor adjustments.
2.adaptation (uncountable)
the process of changing something to make it suitable for a new situation
adaptation to the environment
以下為我的觀察，與英英字典無涉：
觀察英英字典上的解釋，adjustment著重在適應，特別是短時間內的改變。而
adaptation著重在適應的過程，也就是這樣的適應會經歷一段很長的時間。
但，在英英字典中，將adjust與adapt列為同義字(synonym)，，意思皆為
to gradually become familiar with a new situation。
以上為我自己的想法，歡迎大家討論、糾正錯誤。
