首先將C處改寫如下
=> the dam and its reservoir have opened up something to the many-----(1)
^^^^^^^^^
什麼樣的something?
=> something that was formerly restricted to the few-----(2)
接者合併(1)(2)並且把(2)搬到句尾以避免頭重腳輕
=> the dam and its reservoir have opened up to the many something that was
formerly restricted to the few
something that可以改成what
=> ......to the many what was formerly restricted to the few
所以題目C處錯在沒有適當的先行詞 that改成what就解決這個問題了
但根據原po給的答案 C被認為是正確的
我想可能是因為出題者認為that所指代的是前面的dam或是reservoir
不知道其他人是否認同這個看法?
至於D處
=> implying in this case that was once expensive has now been made cheap
為方便分析先把in this case鬼隱起來
=> implying that was once expensive has now been made cheap
看到這裡便能知道that在這裡不是當作關代 而是作為連接詞
用來連接imply這個動詞及後面的子句
而that後面既然是完整的句子 那麼就要有主詞
所以D處錯在少了主詞
最後改正如下
=> implying in this case that something that was once expensive has now been
made cheap
something即是原題目缺少的主詞 而something that還可以改寫為what
=> implying in this case that what was once expensive has now been made cheap
所以原D處that was應改為that what was
不知道會不會寫的太複雜@@ 有錯請指正
