right foot wrapped in a soft cast. The Yankees say he has a sprained foot and
he will have an MRI and a further battery of tests tomorrow in New York.
While Joe Girardi wouldn’t speculate how long he might be out, he said he’d
be “shocked” if he made his next start. Andy Pettitte said, “You hope
it’s only a few weeks and not something longer than that.”
Wang told Mike Mussina he hurt his foot in the grass after rounding third. He
was examined by an Astros team physician, who recommended tests.
Wang refused to be interviewed by reporters after conferring for a few
minutes with Jason Zillo, the team’s media relations director. He did give
Zillo a statement, however, which read, “I feel sore. The doctor said I have
to go get an MRI tomorrow. Of course I am disappointed and on Tuesday, when I
know more, I will talk then.”
