我完蛋了，星期三要考Evolution期中考，
本來以為書唸完了，應該沒什麼問題，但是看了老師給的"可能考題list"後，
覺得烏雲罩頂、前途黯淡，
因為明明書都唸完了，但是卻一題也寫不出來....> <~~
題目很靈活，我很害怕......皮皮銼.....
系上可能有不少人對Evolution很有興趣，
我po出幾題我們的"可能考題"給大家參考一下，
如果知道答案，拜託po出來救我！！
-What does it mean to say that the patterns and processes of
evolution are hierarchical? Give some examples.
-Why were Cuvier's ideas about extinction difficult for many to
accept at the time?
-Outline the premises of Darwin's theory of natural selection.
-Darwin was much impressed with Paley's analogy about watches and
watchmakers. What "grand analogy" did Darwin himself make in his
argument in the Origin of Species?
-Why do we need both definitions and diagnoses in questions of
(a) homology and (b) systematics?
-In your assessment, did Wells and Nelson misrepresent Cannatella? Explain.
-What's the difference between a cladogram and a tree?
-Why is the presence of tectonic processes on Earth so vital to life?
-When aligning two or more homologous DNA or amino acid sequences,
gaps may be inserted to maximize their similarity.
Ordinarily, two types of gap costs are specified.
How do they differ in principle and why might one want to specify
different values for these two types of costs?
-Contrast the three primary methods of phylogenetic reconstruction
(phenetics, cladistics, likelihood) as applied to nucleotide or amino acid
sequences.
-What was the problem immediately perceived with the "empirical" model
of species diversity through time?
