doubtful for the title Rooney will be fit to face Germany Wayne Rooney is set to be fit to face Germany in Sunday's second-round clash after the Football Association described his injury as minor. Rooney was substituted in the 72nd minute of the 1-0 win over Slovenia after being seen to feel his ankle. It was thought he would not train before the game at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. However, he was out with the rest of the squad on Thursday morning before all the players who featured against Slovenia went indoors for gym work. "I substituted Wayne because his ankle was not so good, he has some problems," coach Fabio Capello said after the game. Asked about the extent of the injury, he replied: "I don't know. I have to wait for the doctor but I think it will be okay for the next game on Sunday." Rooney suffered ligament damage to his ankle at the end of March. Meanwhile, Ledley King returned to training as he stepped up his recovery from a groin strain. King did not do any contact work, and was restricted to an individual session. However, King's appearance will give hope that Capello might have him available sooner than anticipated, perhaps for a potential quarter-final meeting with either Argentina or Mexico in Cape Town the following weekend. The Football Association have never put a timescale on King's recovery, although three weeks was suggested, which would keep the 29-year-old out until the World Cup semi-finals, should England get that far.
