Why not ask the International student office at your school see what they can
provide?
If you are still enrolled as a full-time student, it is still possible to get
a new I-20 to get F1 visa.
Otherwise, you may ask your department to see if you can get a J-1 visa since
you're teaching at the department.
(I don't think the department will give you H-1...)
