In the same manner as various animals have some sense of beauty, though they admire widely different objects, so they might have a sense of right and wrong, though led by it to follow widely different lines of conduct. 梁實秋譯：我首先要聲明，我並不願主張說，任何嚴格的群居動物，假如它的智力變得和人類一樣的活潑，並一樣高度的發達，便能得到和我們完全相同的道德的感念。同樣的，各種動物都有一些美感，雖然它們所欣賞的是頗不相同的東西，故它們也許有是非的感念，雖然會被這是非的感念引導著去做頗不相同的行動。前面說過葉公很挑剔。他的回答是：「... 這兩句譯文中有兩點我們覺得還不甚滿意的：第一， “It may be well……” 的語氣譯者似乎沒有顧到。第二，「同樣的，」與下文的關係比原文的 “In the same manner as…” 似乎疏遠一層，因為 “In the same manner” 底下並沒有 comma，不是指上句所說的，而是接著下句的 “as”的。除此二點之外，這兩句翻譯也就只能這樣了。可見翻譯要好真的不容易...。 -- Each morning when you get up, read two chapters of the Old Testament, two chapters of the New Testament, five Psalms, and one chapter of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes or the Song of Songs. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc), 來自: 111.240.125.37 (臺灣) ※ 文章網址: https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/Translation/M.1596647650.A.F2E.html
