是，的確用來說明system；兩個逗號只是 插入語 的方式。
此外，這句不是分詞構句(因為since為連接詞，前後的主詞不一致，所以不能省略主詞)
原句呈現：
Since the company's old database system was replaced, problems with
the company's old database system caused some loss of customer data.
簡化一下，利用插入法：
Problems with the company's old database system, since it was replaced,
caused some loss of customer data.
或者更簡化，主詞跟動詞一起消失：
Problems with the company's old database system, since replaced,
caused some loss of customer data.
此題的確是 插入，
插入語 本來可以插入 "句子、名詞、形容詞"，
但一般不能插入"動詞"；
所以
上一篇回文的d大 舉例中的第二句 可能要修改一下：
原句：ex0-2: Mr. Lin, died yesterday, will not come here.
應該改成下面4種：
1) Mr. Lin, dead yesterday, will not come here.
2) Mr. Lin, who was dead yesterday, will not come here.
3) Mr. Lin, dying yesterday, will not come here.
4) Mr. Lin, who died yesterday, will not come here.
致於翻譯，d大沒翻錯。
而 since 翻譯雖然是 "自從"，後面的 cause 前面也不是一定要用完成式，
原題目用過去簡單式，表達就是損失 就發生一次而已，不是多次。

其實這個考題 可以用關係子句 簡化為 關係片語 來表達：
兩句如下：
1) The ompany's old database system was replaced.
2) Problems with the company's old database system
caused some loss of customer data.
請用 since 連接上述兩句：
Since the ompany's old database system was replaced,
problems with it caused some loss of customer data.
關係子句合併如下：
Problems with the company's old database system which was replaced
caused some loss of customer data.
當然可以用關係片語：
Problems with the company's old database system replaced
caused some loss of customer data.
但是上面這句不常見，因為如果關係片語只剩一個字，常常會移到先行詞之前：所以...
Problems with the replaced company's old database system
caused some loss of customer data.
