我的理解是這樣:
第一題是和過去事實相反的假設語氣
要不是George held us up (過去式)......, 會議早該準時結束(過去完成)
把這句想成是
If George didn't hold us up(過去式)...., the meeting would have been over...
第二題主詞是advertising,動詞是 has had, 逗號後面的句子不能有再動詞,
通常都用V-ing (主動時) 或 V-ed (被態時)
第三題的that是用來修飾taxes
而taxes稅金是被需要用來照顧老人.
the taxes are needed to take care of ....正確,
意同We need the taxes to take care of...
the taxes need to take care of ... 錯誤,taxes不會主動照顧老人
