有板友反應上一篇太多文法名詞 這是因為 分詞構句有很多狀況
所以希望大家可以去看書會比較清楚
在這裡我還是仔細的說一下怎麼解牛吧
首先是閱讀 技巧就是在向右看的同時,用餘光往下面兩行看
看什麼呢？
1.連接詞
2.因果
3.子句
你只要大概的知道有這些東西就可以了 不用細看內容
這是因為中文的閱讀習慣與英文的寫法不太一樣
A.這句話我先看到
We need
therefore
to know how much the climate can vary of its own accord
in order to
interpret with confidence the extent
to which recent changes are natural
as opposed to being the result of human activities.
就是突出來的那幾的字
1.Therefore 因此 顯然這是因果句
不一定要放句首Therefore, we need to
也可以出現在We need, therefore,to (在此,,省略了)
2.不過我也瞄到有個片語 in order to 為了
(要翻成流暢的中文應該是in order to 從開始翻 載此我只是略微瞭解句子的構造)
3.to which 關代 只有幾個 應該很容易找出來 (要注意to 表示the extent 是to 的受詞)
4.as opposed to
原本有兩種寫法 ,which is opposed to (which代指上述的內容)
as opposed to (as有連接詞的意思) 比較常見
表示1.相對於(in contrast to) 2.而不是(rather than)
翻譯有些差異不過不影響閱讀 就是 相反的意義 只是後者有點否定意味
這些字就是我們的路標
要拆解機車 基本的零件長什麼樣子要背起來
不然會找錯地方下刀

句子真正的意思要連著看第一段每一句的開頭比較容宜瞭解
第一句有whether 就表示這原本是個Yes/No問句 所以有個Q
人類活動對於近代的氣候改變是否有影響
接下來兩句 We know ... 已知
We also know... 也知道
下一句應該是 還要知道... 就能推論...
想像中中文是:
為了知到這個變化中有多少是人類活動的影響,
必需先知到自然變化的程度有多大.

C.to know how much the climate can vary of its own accord
就是後面那一句
how much問程度
vary是個動詞 變化
of its own accord 字典中大概是 主動地\自願地\自由意志
要瞭解氣候自然變化的程度意思

D.interpret with confidence the extent
就是最近我幾篇文章中常常看到的移後
interpret the extent with confidence
能有把握地詮釋這程度
可是作者覺得 the extent 說不清楚是什麼的程度 所以在後方又加了一串
我之後會解釋一下 我認為作者為何要這樣寫

to which 上面已經說過了是 which是關代 ; to 常用在表示程度
to some degree /to a certain degree/to some extent
所以常常看到 the extent to which... 出現在句子中

接下來就是這個

想像中 我們應該說 氣候不是自然變動 就是受人類活動影響
這是個二分法
但是有個問題
似乎不應該寫成 最近的變化是自然的或人為的
為何呢？
因為我想到的 人為 就是這3個字
Artificial 人造的(有假造的.虛假之意)=man-made
Contrived 有杜撰的.人為策劃的 兩意思
這不是人造氣候 只是氣候受到人類的影響而有些改變
可見跟這裡只是要指出人類活動的意思不一樣
只好用一串東西來說明 being the result of human activities
記的as 有連接的性質嗎？
Recent changes are natural(自然的).
應該要相對於
Recent changes are the result of human activities.
省略共同的主詞,所以就出現being 了
........................................
以上
剛剛說的想像中是:
為了知到這個變化中有多少是人類活動的影響,
必需先知到自然變化的程度有多大.
(只要能想到這樣就可以作答了 閱讀考理解 不是句子分析)
現在看完了 照字面翻應該是:
為了正確(有把握地)解釋最近的變化中,由自然(而非人類活動的結果)所佔的比率,
我們(因此)必須知到氣候自然變化的程度.
還是中文好...
