[問題] foreign currency exchange
Hi,
I plan to visit Hong Kong and Singapore for about 2 weeks, and
thus am thinking whether I should exchange some HKD and SGD in
San Francisco. The amount is about 1500 USD per place.
Does anyone know the best way of getting this?
Another option is to purchase the traveler's checks (I am using CitiBank),
but I am not sure how convenient it is in these two places,
and how can I exchange them to cash if necessary.
Please advise. Thank you.

Thx, but my citibank account seems to charge me
Current foreign transaction fees: 3% plus $1.50 per transaction
if I use the ATM card overseas.

Can I use my ATM/Debit Card overseas?
Yes, you can use your ATM/Debit Card worldwide at more than 7,000 Citibank ATMs and at over 1,000,000 ATMs with the MasterCard긠logo. You can also use your ATM/Debit Card to make purchases, just as you would in the U.S. But there are some differences to keep in mind when traveling outside the U.S. Here's a quick rundown of what to expect:
Many overseas ATMs require a 4-digit PIN. In addition, many overseas ATMs do not have letters on the keypad, so you may want to change to a numeric PIN before you go. You can change your PIN at Citibank Online, and at any Citibank ATM or Financial Center in the U.S.
Outside of the U.S., you can use your Citibank Banking Card at more than 1,000,000 ATMs. However, there is a foreign exchange fee of 3% (waived for Citigold clients). For example, if you withdrew 100 Euros at any ATM in Italy, and the value in USD was $125, then the 3% fee would be $3.75. This exchange fee also applies if you use your Citibank Banking Card to make purchases overseas..
ATMs outside the U.S. do not usually have the same set of features that you'll find at ATMs in the U.S. For example, while all ATMs worldwide will let you view, withdraw, and transfer money between your checking and savings accounts, not all of them will let you do the same with other accounts you may have linked to your ATM/Debit Card, such as your Citibank line, loan, mortgage, credit card, etc.

Thx. It seems too late to apply for the e-trade or Capital One and wait for the ATM card now. Also, my credit card is Citi as well (and 3% applies). In such a scenario, should I simply bring the cash and exchange it in HK/ SG airports directly? Or get the HKD or SGD in US first? Any other advice?
