[新聞] Jacoby exits with tight right hamstring
By Ian Browne / MLB.com
NEW YORK -- One night after the Red Sox lost Kevin Youkilis to an in-game
injury, Jacoby Ellsbury had to exit Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Yankees in the
bottom of the fourth inning with tightness in his right hamstring.
Ellsbury, Boston's speedy center fielder, led off the game with a single to
center field. He stole second and wound up scoring on an RBI single by David
Ortiz. In the second, Ellsbury flied to right.
The stolen base was the cause of the injury, but Ellsbury does not think it
is serious. He also didn't rule out playing on Wednesday night against the
Indians.
"It's better than it was," Ellsbury said. "It got real tight. It kind of went
into a spasm. At that point, it was probably best to come out and give it a
break."
The left-handed-hitting Ellsbury is batting .291 with one homer, nine RBIs
and 15 stolen bases. Jonathan Van Every replaced Ellsbury in center field.
"I'll come in early [Wednesday], like I normally do -- get some treatment on
it, and we'll see," Ellsbury said. "Considering how it felt earlier in the
game, I feel pretty good."
