Rangers left-handed pitching prospect Martin Perez was victorious in his
debut with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.
Perez lasted five innings, allowing a single run on six hits. He struck out
four batters to earn his first Triple-A win.
Texas signed Perez, 20, as an undrafted free agent in July of 2007.
He started the season with Double-A Frisco, going 4-2 with a 3.16 ERA in 16
starts (17 appearances). In 88 1/3 innings, Perez notched a complete-game
shutout and struck out 83 batters (while walking 36).
At Frisco, batters hit just .245 against the left-hander.
