Adam Stern
A third-round pick in 2001 fro the Univbersity of Nebraska, Adam Stern's
progerss stalled in '03 due to a severe hamstring injury. He came back
healthy in '04, ripping Southern League pitching and finishing third in
the league batting hunt. Stern has a solid lefty swing and should hit for
average at all levels. His plate discipline is marginal in terms of walks,
but he does not strike out much, and usually makes solid contact. His
power production is naadequate for a corner outfielder, but he runs well
and has the defensive skills for center field. For me, he projects as a
fourth outfielder, but could move beyond that if he would walk more or
develop more home run power. The Red Sox might have ideas on
how to get more out of him-they took him in Rule 5 draft
