SNMP 雖然有"管理"這個字眼,
不過它基本上只是個monitoring protocol.

"Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a widely used protocol
for monitoring the health and welfare of network equipment (eg. routers),
computer equipment and even devices like UPSs. Net-SNMP is a suite of
applications used to implement SNMP v1, SNMP v2c and SNMP v3 using both
IPv4 and IPv6. "
像Net-SNMP 這樣的suite 一般會提供generic MIBs, 但是像一些其它的網路設備
如Cisco, Foundry switches/routers, 這些廠商會提供自己的private MIBs.
snmpset這樣的指令是針對某一OID 寫入值,
而不是用snmpset 去設定特定port 的開啟或關閉 or 設定 某port 流向某ip;
除非,
該設備的private MIBs 提供,
特定port 的開啟或關閉
or
設定 某port 流向某ip 的OIDs
為1 or whatever values, 則switch/router 會啟動該功能,
則snmpset 可以做這樣的設定.
