埔里酒廠埔里被稱為是「紹興酒的故鄉」即是因為埔里酒廠向來以製造紹興酒而名聞遐邇。埔里酒廠成立於日據時代(1902年)，由地方人士所倡議籌組，大正十一年日因禁止民間製酒，台灣總督府專賣局即接收株式會社，改名為「埔里出張所」，台灣光復後，轉由省政府菸酒公賣局管轄，這時的埔里酒廠只生產米酒、太白酒、糯米酒，而且生產不多，後來才改以生產紹興酒為主。埔里酒廠生產的紹興酒，之所以廣受歡迎，原因之一是拜埔里水質甘良所賜；酒廠生產酒的水來自愛蘭台地的泉水，目前在愛蘭台地西邊設有一水塔，就是專供製造紹興酒之用。 Pu-li brewery Pu-li is called “the hometown of shaoxing wine” because Pu-li brewery is known for making shaoxing wine. The reason why 紹興酒 from Pu-li brewery so popular is that pu-li water taste smoothly. The water which Pu-li brewery used is from 愛蘭 tableland. Now, there is a standpipe set up the west of愛蘭 tableland, it specially provide the water for making紹興酒. 廣興紙寮埔里的手工造紙濫觴於日治時代，昭和十年(1935)由日人創建的「埔里製紙所」開啟了埔里的造紙故事。光復後，台灣紙業公司大肚廠接收埔里製紙所，並改名「埔里手工紙工廠」，最後埔里手工紙工廠標售民營，埔里的造紙業在這個時候進入民營時期，許多民營紙廠也於此時成立。山好水好的埔里，因為水質佳成為紙的故鄉。雖然目前埔里的紙業不如巔峰時期興盛，但這一批存留下來的製紙人，仍舊在為台灣紙的名聲而努力。由於全世界的環保意識愈來愈高漲，使用草本漿料和再生紙張成為趨勢，所以在埔里種植面積廣達二千公頃的筊白筍，成為最佳的紙漿料來源。以筊白筍外殼製作紙，不僅環保，更重要的意義在於它是以本土原料製作而成的正宗台灣紙。 Guang Xingzhi Laos Manual papermaking in Guangdong originated when the time Japanese ruled Taiwan, the Shiaowa ten years (1935) founded “in Guangdong by the Japanese people the system paper institute” to open in Guangdong's papermaking story.
