Tebow’s played in three of the Patriots four preseason games this season, finishing 11-for-30 (36.7 percent) for 145 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was sacked four times for a loss of 48 yards, and rushed for 91 yards on 16 carries for a 5.7-yard average. Tebow said following Thursday’s preseason win over the Giants that he was not worried about the impending roster cuts. “I’m blessed because of my faith, because you don’t have to worry about the future, because I know who holds my future,” Tebow said. “A lot of times people use that as a cliche, but it’s something I try to live by. It really gives you a lot of peace in whatever circumstance you’re in.” Tebow was brought in prior to this season as New England’s third quarterback behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. If was felt that if he made the team, he would be a project for Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who drafted Tebow when he was head coach of the Denver Broncos. But Tebow did not impress enough during the preseason to earn a roster spot, as New England has only carried three quarterbacks once in the past four seasons. The Patriots also released defensive end Jermaine Cunningham early Saturday, getting their roster down to 63 players. They must be down to 53 players by 6 p.m.. -- http://t.co/57O1EYUjQ6 The Patriots have also made the decision to carry Rob Gronkowski on their 53-man roster and not place him on the physically unable to perform list. The tight end, who has undergone multiple surgeries on his forearm this offseason, as well as one on his back, has yet to practice in pads with the team over the course of the summer. While it’s questionable how soon he will be ready to return to game action, it appears the team believes there’s a chance he will be ready sooner rather than later. (If he had been placed on PUP — the deadline for that decision was today — he wouldn’t have been eligible to play for at least the first six weeks of the season.)
