Trey Burke is expected to miss 8-12 weeks after having surgery on Tuesday to
repair his fractured index finger, according to his agent.
He'll need to have pins inserted and this is a far worse timetable than the
initial 3-6 week window suggested by Burke's father on Sunday.
John Lucas III becomes the starting PG by default until Burke is ready to
return, and Utah will likely scour the free agent pool and trade market for
another backup ball-handler. Lucas may surface as a low-end value and his
per-36-minute averages are worth reciting --
15.6 points on 39.3 percent FGs, 2.3 threes, 3.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and
1.1 steals.
