This is a good sign for Los Angeles, as Reaves has been a key contributor for th
e team since being signed as an undrafted free agent.

“The Lakers don’t make this deal without the intention of re-signing [Rui] Hac

e to acquire Hachimura and obtain his Bird rights is a significant price conside
ring his $18.8 million cap hold. Los Angeles could clear just north of $30 milli
on in space if the Lakers were to renounce Hachimura and other players’ rights,
but the team is expected to also look to retain combo guard Austin Reaves. A dr
eam scenario of signing or trading for a max-contract-level player just got a wh
ole lot trickier.”

icago Bulls a few offseasons ago, but it appears the team knows that it has a so
lid rotation piece in Reaves.
