(Melissa Majchrzak/Getty Images) The Utah Jazz and young forward Gordon Hayward did not reach an agreement on a contract extension before a Thursday night deadline, meaning Hayward will become a restricted free agent next summer. Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news, adding that Hayward is willing to risk injury playing this season to earn what he believes will be more money as a free agent. According to Wojnarowski, Hayward could command a contract in the neighborhood of four years and $50 million. Of course, as a restricted free agent, Hayward could have any offer sheet he signs matched by the Jazz. Hayward was the ninth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, out of Butler. The Jazz signed Derrick Favors, the No. 3 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, to a four-year extension worth $49 million earlier this month.
