Rick Carlisle calls incident with Jason Terry "an internal matter'' By David Moore / Reporter dmoore@dallasnews.com | Bio 11:02 PM on Fri., Apr. 8, 2011 | Permalink Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle began his press conference with a statement regarding Jason Terry's behavior in the second quarter of the team's win over the LA Clippers. "It's an internal matter and is going to remain an internal matter,'' Carlisle said. "This is an emotional game and it's a very compelling game because in our league, guys don't wear baseball hats, fans aren't seated 30 yards from the field, guys aren't wearing helmets and facemasks or have glass barriers like hockey. Emotions run high and sometimes things happen. I'm going to leave it at that. "Jet is a very important guy on our team. I was considering giving him a night off and was a little worried about that. I think tonight will be his night off.'' Terry didn't play after a dispute between himself and teamamte J.J. Barea escalated into a shouting match between the sixth man and Carlisle. Asked when Carlisle decided to give Terry the rest of the night off, he said, "at the time of the incident.'' Carlisle declined to say whether he and Terry have already talked or would do so soon. When asked if there would be any further disciplinary action, Carlisle said, "I don't anticipate any.'' Terry spoke after the game but declined to answer any questions about the incident.
