José Reina Paez5.5
Smartly off his line to block Mertens in the first half. Missed a couple of
crosses early in the second half that led to chaos in the Liverpool area.
Martin Kelly 5.0
A slip allowed Mulenga to beat him to the byeline and deliver a low cross,
which Johnson cleared to spare his fellow full-back's blushes. Another
stumble and fall in the second half caused more chaos.
Jamie Carragher 5.5
One lax bit of defending sparked a period of a couple of minutes in the first
half when Liverpool could do no right. Perhaps fortunate to not be penalised
for a clear tug on Wuytens shirt at a set-piece in the second half.
Martin Skrtel 6.0
Sporting a natty black headband, Skrtel managed to avoid the sleepiness
that seemed to affect each of his fellow defenders at some point during the
game.
Glen Johnson 5.5 Flop of the Match
Not as lively as one has come to expect of the England full-back, particularly
offensively. Clipped in one decent cross in the first half which Torres failed
to anticipate, but that was about all.
Christian Poulsen 5.5
Midfield anchor, or a deadweight holding Liverpool back? The jury is still out
on the Dane, who neither did anything to help his cause or harm it in a
instantly forgotten performance.
Lucas 5.0
There was a Dutch flag with ‘Lucas’ written across it adorning one of the
stands, and it seemed at times that the Liverpool man switched sides in
response. Collected a yellow card all of his own making, a misplaced pass
followed by a misconceived challenge on the breaking Duplan. Sliced a
clearance out for a corner soon after.
Joe Cole 5.0
Floated around on the fringes of things until Kuyt switched to the left flank
and allowed him to move into the ‘hole’ behind Torres, where he momentarily
had a hunger to be on the ball. Substituted for Maxi on 82 minutes, which
says it all about how much Roy Hodgson thought one of his supposed
match-winner's could contribute in the closing stages.
Dirk Kuyt 7.5
Industrious and intelligent, which should be a given but are
increasingly qualities that Liverpool’s players seem bereft of. Sometimes,
just not making mistakes is enough to make you a stand-out performer, and
that is what Kuyt is at present.
Raúl Meireles6.0
Trundled a left-foot shot at Vorm from 25 yards. Often drifted into the
middle as Torres wandered off left. In the right place at the right time to
clear off the line when Silberbauer had a gilt-edged chance.
Fernando Torres 5.5
Johnson and Kuyt both provided inviting crosses into the six-yard box in the
opening stages, which the Torres of 18 months ago would have been on to in a
flash. Similar story in the second half, when presented with a sitter from
six yards, though Vorm did get down well.

On for Joe Cole on 82 minutes. Hooked an overhead kick
over the bar soon after.
