[+] GETTY IMAGES KEY FACTS Trump had faced criticism from both sides of the political spectrum for not ordering flags to fly at half-staff after Sicknick died Thursday from injuries he sustained during the Capitol riots. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi ordered the Capitol’s flags be lowered on Thursday, the day Sicknick died. It was only after Liebengood’s death from suicide was revealed Sunday that the White House released the proclamation. The American flag will be flown at half-staff at the White House and all public grounds and U.S. military facilities around the world, as well as international embassies, legations and consular offices, until sunset on Wednesday. KEY BACKGROUND Liebengood is the sixth person reported to have died in connection with the violence that erupted on Capitol Hill last week. Democrats and some Republicans are calling for Trump to be removed from office for encouraging his supporters to go to the Capitol to contest Congress’ certification of the Electoral College votes on Wednesday.
