Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb said on Thursday that he deeply regrets th
e Taliban’s decision to ban women from universities in Afghanistan, adding that
the decision contradicts Islamic Sharia.

of the International Islamic Scholars Organization, speaking at the Organizatio
n of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Pakistan, condemned the denial of educa
tion to girls as both unjust and contradictory to Islamic teachings.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s aston
ishment and regret at the decision of the Afghan caretaker government to deny Af
ghan girls the right to university education, and calls on it to reverse this de
cision,” read a statement issued Tuesday.
The United Arab Emirates said the ban on university attendance by women and “ea
rlier bans on girls from accessing secondary education violate fundamental human
rights, contravene the teachings of Islam and must be swiftly reversed.”
Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Qatar and many other governments across the Muslim
world have made similar statements decrying the Taliban’s ban on women’s work
and education.

One scholar, Abdul Rahman Abid, said institutions should be permitted to re-admi
t girls and women through separate classes, hiring female teachers, staggering t
imetables, and even building new facilities.
Knowledge is obligatory in Islam for men and women, he told The Associated Press
, and Islam allows women to study.
"My daughter is absent from school, I am ashamed, I have no answer for my daught
er," he said. "My daughter asks why girls are not allowed to learn in the Islami
c system. I have no answer for her."
學者阿卜杜勒·拉赫曼·阿比德（Abdul Rahman Abid）表示，應允許教育機構通過設立獨
立教室、聘請女教師、交錯排課，甚至興建新設施等方式，重新招收女孩與女性入學。
他在接受美聯社（The Associated Press）採訪時表示，在伊斯蘭教中，不論男女，追求
知識都是一種義務，且伊斯蘭教是允許女性學習的。

我之前遇到一個幫塔利班說話的反美智障還在說什麼這是他們的宗教習俗，實際上這跟宗教
沒什麼關係，因為即使是沙烏地阿拉伯這種原教旨國家都覺得塔利班太極端。我查的資料普
遍來說都認為塔利班的禁令與其說是受伊斯蘭影響，不如說是普什圖人的陋習。
