Stanton suffers facial fractures in beaning X-rays determined that Giancarlo Stanton suffered multiple facial fractures, as well as dental damage, when he was hit by a Mike Fiers pitch Thursday. The Marlins haven't made any additional announcements, other than to say Stanton will return to Miami on Friday for further evaluation. Still, it's obvious he's done for the year; at best, broken bones within the face is going to be a four-week injury and probably more like an eight-week thing. There's also no word yet whether Stanton is dealing with any concussion symptoms. The Marlins will probably mix and match right fielders for the rest of the season. Enrique Hernandez could see significant time there. They also have the option of playing Garrett Jones in right and Justin Bour at first base, but that would seem to weaken the defense too much.
