Tigers option Bruce Rondon to AAA Toledo
Tigers optioned RHP Bruce Rondon to Triple-A Toledo.
Rondon was given every opportunity to claim the Tigers' ninth-inning job this
spring, but he wound up allowing 17 hits and nine walks in 12 1/3 Grapefruit
League frames. The hard-throwing 22-year-old should climb his way to Detroit
at some point in 2013. In the meantime, the Tigers will employ a
closer-by-committee. Joaquin Benoit, Phil Coke, Octavio Dotel and Al
Alburquerque are all candidates for save opportunities.
