Wait, if you really did mean ".login" then you must be using csh (or tcsh
here on FreeBSD) and not bash. In that case you should say you are using
csh/tcsh.
Different shells have different scripts that get run when you log in.
Scripts with "bash" in the name won't be run by csh.
